...И ЕСТЬ substand (Particle) used as part of either an answer or a rejoinder to provide an affirmative response or confirm that the person, thing, action etc in question is, in reality, precisely as he or it has been described (whereas in Russian a relevant word from the preceding context is always repeated before the idiom, some English equivalents do not require such repetition)

«По современным нормам, она просто святая». - «Святая и есть» (Битов 2). "By modern standards she's a saint." "A saint she is" (2a).

«Ну, поворачивайся, толстобородый!» - обратился Базаров к ямщику. «Слышь, Митюха, - подхватил другой... ямщик... - барин-то тебя как прозвал? Толстобородый и есть» (Тургенев 2). "Well, stir your stumps, greatbeard!" said Bazarov to the driver of the stage horses. "Hear that, Mitya!" cried his mate.... "Hear what the gentleman called ye? Greatbeard - it's what you are all right" (2a).

Помощниками Деникина нас величают... А кто же мы? Выходит, что помощники и есть, нечего обижаться. Правда-матка глаза заколола...» (Шолохов 4). "They call us accomplices of Denikin.. .And what are we? That's just what we are. So why get huffy about it? It stings because it's true" (4a).

«Гляди, Григорий, никак Майданниковых пристань?» - «Она и есть» (Шолохов 2). "Look, Grigory, isn't that the Maidannikovs' pier?" "Ay, that's it" (2a).
